Q: What type of wax do you use in your scented candles and why?
A: We use a hybrid wax consisting of soy and paraffin. Both give our candles good qualities. Soy provides a longer burn time and paraffin provides great scent throw. Together, they provide a long lasting candle that will gently fill the room.
Q: Do your candles contain any lead?
A: No, lead in candle wicks has been banned in the US. Most candle manufacturers stopped all production using wicks containing lead long before the ban was implemented.
Q: Are your candles clean burning?
A: According to the National Candle Association, “No specific type of wax or wax blend is considered “best” for candle making. All candle waxes – when provided in high-quality format – have been shown to burn cleanly, safely and in the same manner.” If the candle is burned as directed, it will burn cleanly.
Q: What can I do to keep my candle burning cleanly?
A: To keep your candle from producing the same soot that is created when cooking, there are several things to keep in mind. The wick should be trimmed to 1/4 inch each time you light it. You should not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. And you should keep your candle out of drafts and air currents.
Q: Why are your citronella candles labeled for outdoor use only?
A: Our citronella candles use the same types of materials as our indoor scented candles, however, the wick is oversized to propel the most oil into the air as well as create a condition in whch the candle will smoke a bit. The smoke helps ward off those annoying bugs and is the reason for the outdoor designation.
